We got Worms!

Last weekend we spent pretty much the entirety of the weekend doing yard work. It was a lot of work but I am happy with the results. My Father-in-law spent most of the time working on our pathways, clearing up grass, weeds or other various items. Holly raked up all the pine needles and pine cones and I worked on the fountain. I just about have it ready to be up and running but it is leaking somewhere so I need to find the hole and patch it then it will be good to go. So after we did all this work I wanted to go outside and relax in yard on Monday. It was starting to get dark outside so the temperature was quite nice. So as I'm walking around I start to notice a bunch of little holes in the dirt between the rocks on the pathway. As I continue staring at the ground I begin to notice a bunch of movement with every step that I take. By this time it is dark outside and anyone who knows me knows I am scared to death of snakes. I'm a little freaked out and am hoping the movement on the ground isn't a garden snake or something. I head back inside switch my shoes to boots and grab a flashlight. I head over to the side of the yard where all the movement was luckily the movement wasn't from a snake but a much smaller creature, night crawlers not just one or two but lots and lots of worms. Every time a take a step they would (slither? or whatever it called when worms move) into their respective holes. All together there were probably 50-60 worms in the yard. I heard worms are good because the help aerate your grass but that many worms can't be good can they? So I think I'm going to have some friends that fish come get some free worms from my yard. I am slightly excited to take Holly out and show her the worms to see what her reaction will be.
